Agile is not Dead but MISUNDERSTOOD

Agile was, is and will continue to be the best thing to happen to software development (among many other fields), client-centricity, customer satisfaction, and innovation. When I hear or read Agile purists or frustrated corporate leaders state that Agile is dead I can only assume that they are either of the “100% Agility or bust” mentality or expect Agile transformations to be quick and easy without the need for sticking with it coupled with long-term, executive-level championing. These naysayers are living in a fantasy world in which companies aren’t bound by shareholders, regulations, budgets and other constraints. If you’re looking for 100% Agility, read a textbook because it largely exists only in theory. So do we throw the baby out with the bathwater and go back to pure Waterfall, or do we incrementally become as Agile as possible within pre-existing confines?
